Learn how to grow red alder from the experts!
No longer considered a “weed-tree”, red alder is now very marketable wood and log prices are competing even with Douglas fir. However, red alder management can be tricky and comes with equal parts challenge and opportunity. With that in mind, this workshop will cover all things alder as they relate to small forest owners. Forestry experts will help equip you with the knowledge and resources to grow alder with research-backed management practices.
What We’ll Cover:
Through presentations, field tours, and demonstrations we will cover: red alder ecology, silviculture, markets, products, milling options, log grading, options for existing unmanaged stands, and more!
- Presentations from recognized experts in hardwood management
- Field tour of managed and unmanaged alder stands
- Log grading demonstration
- Q & A sessions
