Thinning for Forest Health Workshop and Walking Tour – Spring 2025
Learn about thinning for a healthier forest!
Thinning can improve tree health and vigor, provide income, create wildlife habitat, and improve biodiversity. In this field-based workshop you can learn about reasons to thin your forest, advantages of thinning, and things to watch out for. Enjoy an evening of learning and conversation with a forest health expert, complete with a walking tour of a working forest.
This field-based workshop will cover the basics of thinning and its implications for forest health. The workshop is suitable for forest owners and enthusiasts alike, and will include plenty of time for attendees to ask questions.

- Pre-commercial and commercial thinning
- Thinning techniques and best practices

5:30 p.m – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025
Location
The workshop will be held on private forestland in Shelton, WA. Specific location information and driving directions will be sent to registrants the week leading up to the event.
Cost and Registration
Cost
The registration fee is $15 per individual or $25 per couple from the same household/ownership. Pre-registration is required.
Space is very limited! This is a small group workshop, so register early if you want a spot – this will sell out quickly.
The registration deadline is 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025. Cancellation requests must be received before June 20, 2025 to be eligible for a refund. Humanitix processing fees are non-refundable.
