Learn More and Work on Your Plan
Recommended Activities
- Watch the Forest Inventory Field Video.
- Plan and map out where you will put some inventory plots in your stand(s). Depending on your property conditions and objectives, you may not need to do a formal plot sampling inventory, but you will still need an inventory section in your plan. Wait until after the field trip to collect data and then use the Inventory Section Examples (PDF) as guidance to draft the inventory section of your plan.
- Study the resource maps of your property. Using the Water Resources Section Examples as a guide, draft the water quality/riparian & fish habitat/wetlands section of your forest stewardship plan (Resource Category 3). Note any streams or wetlands, their types. Describe management considerations, protection measures, and any opportunities for habitat enhancement.
- Watch the threatened and endangered species video.
- Use the information you’ll receive from Kevin and the Special Resources and Biodiversity Section Examples (PDF) to write the protection of special resources and biodiversity (Resource Category 7) section of your plan.
